What a vacation! The fun began as soon as we landed. Crysti and Allison arrived before us so they went to pick up our rental car. Since we both drive mini-vans, we thought it would be fun to have a cute, little car that we could zip around California in. Besides, we also wanted something that would get great gas mileage. Ha! Ha! When we arrived at the airport to be picked up by Crysti, here I was looking for the adorable car we had been envisioning....not the giant, 4-door, super-cab, Dodge Pick-up truck! Could we get any further away then cute and little with great gas mileage? It was HUGE! You should have seen us trying to make quick lane changes and squeezing into traffic on the freeway... hopefully we didn't take anyone out that we are unaware of.Once we arrived at our hotel, we directly headed to our pedicure appointment. The girls had so much fun getting the spa treatment to their feet. Kaitlyn was a little amazed at some of the men that were there getting their pedicures...that is not something Chris would be caught doing. He would rather die then be sitting in a nail spa asking for the "clear coat". That evening we went out to dinner and then watched "Enchanted" in our room. Sunday was a pretty relaxed day. We decided to go drive around all the well known areas. We went to Malibu, Sunset Blvd., Hollywood, and Beverly Hills. We saw some amazing areas that people live in but NO celebrities! After that we took our girls to American Girl Co. Kaitlyn was beyond words. When she saw the store from a distance she just began running to it. Let me just say that if anyone is going to L.A. and is looking for a good place to shop ....we found one. It was beautiful! It is an outdoor shopping center with cobblestone sidewalks, fountains, ponds and bridges...sooo cute!!!
The girls had fun shopping at American Girl. Ally picked out her first doll and named her Zoey. We then went to the American Girl Restaurant. It was adorable. My pictures do not even do it a little justice. The food was nothing to brag about, but the experience was definitely worth it.
Once we were done with American Girl Co., we decided to head over to the area where they were holding the Academy Awards. We were able to park our truck and walk up a couple of blocks, but were then stopped by police and ropes. It was definitely something none of us had ever experienced before. There were people picketing and screaming at all the limos to repent, helicopters overhead taking pictures, and literally hundred of limos filled with all the celebrities. It was out of my world.
Then, on Monday and Tuesday we spent the days at Disney Land. The girls were great sports and went on every ride. Ally even went on the Tower of Terror. The weather was in the 70's and low 80's and couldn't have been more perfect for walking around in. The lines at the park were great. The wait for the bigger rides were 10 minutes...AWESOME!
Tuesday afternoon, Kaitlyn and my flight was scheduled for 5:05pm and Crysti and Ally for 6pm, so we decided that we needed to leave no later then 3pm since the drive is about 40 minutes. That is not what happened. By the time we got out of the park, back to our hotel, and a quick bathroom trip, we didn't end up leaving until 3:30pm. When we hit the freeway the traffic was completely backed up. Umm....nervous. Then, to make matters worse, our gas guzzling truck was on the empty line. We don't know how that happened, but we had to pull off and get gas. Needless to say, we arrived at the airport at 4:35pm. By the time we got to the airport, Crysti and my nerves were shot! After all the speeding, racing through the airport and security we found out that my flight was delayed. Go figure. Due to the delay, I was going to miss our connection in Oakland, so they ended up rerouting us. It's funny how things work out. We ended up on Crysit's flight and sat right next to them. After a couple of plane changes and planes waiting for US...we made it home! I had such a good time with Kaitlyn and cherished the time we had together. It was a perfect girls get-a-way!!!

Glad you had a good trip! I bet Chris was happy to have you home.
Ok, of all the times I've rented a car, I've never gotten a truck!! How did this happen? I am so excited that you had an awesome time. Those are the best memories. DONT throw away those shoes that walked on the same street as the academy awards. I must touch them first! :)
What a great trip! You've inspired me to take Halle away somewhere sometime!
So fun Valynn!!! I didn't know about the American Girl Place - what a GREAT idea! I would've liked to seen a pic with you & that AWESOME truck!
That sounds like such an amazing trip and I am sure Kaitlyn will remember it forever. When Aleah gets a little older I might have to consider a girls weekend.
Wow..what a blast! I am glad you were able to get away from the snow and enjoy some California sun! Fun Fun!
